Quick Summary / Abstract:
Background: California Public Contract Code Section 20111 requires a school district to competitively bid a contract for the purchase of equipment, materials, supplies, services, repairs, and routine maintenance, exceeding $96,700, or construction services exceeding $15,000.

On June 15th, our Board approved Resolution No. 202-20/21 Authorizing Emergency Procurement of Necessary Products and Services To Address The Spread of COVID-19 To Allow For the Opening Of District Schools For the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
Status In order to accommodate provision of universal free meals, our District made the following emergency purchases that are also listed on the June 2021 Purchase Order Summary Report;

Vendor: East Bay Restaurant Supply

Po# 21-04568 - for $476,670 for the purchase of multiple roll-in refrigerators and freezers, reach-in refrigerators, milk coolers, heated cabinets, rethermalization and holding cabinets, multiple rolling racks and miscellaneous kitchen equipment for all school sites.

PO# 21-04500 - for $42,226 outdoor freezer for Christensen
PO# 21-04501 - for $22,360 indoor refrigerator for Sunset
PO# 21-04502 - for $22,360 indoor refrigerator for Arroyo Seco
PO# 21-04503 - for $22,360 indoor refrigerator for Rancho

The emergency action under Resolution No. 202-20/21 is no longer necessary and should be terminated as outlined in the resolution.
Fiscal Impact There is no impact to the General Fund. All costs associated with the emergency purchases were paid through Fund 13 - Child Nutrition.
Superintendent's Recommendation: Our Superintendent recommends approving the Emergency Procurement of Necessary Products and Services for Child Nutrition listed above and approves terminating the emergency action under Resolution No. 202-20/21.
