Quick Summary / Abstract:
Background: The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) mathematics program teaches students the fundamental skills needed for each student to achieve their optimum potential by developing the ability to understand and apply mathematics to ultimately prepare students for our career-oriented society. In the summer of 2019, our District created the Math Action Plan (MAP) as a guidance document to support our focus on the improvement of mathematics at all grade levels within our District. The MAP is grounded in the California Standards for Mathematics and embraces the LVJUSD Core Values for Teaching and Learning.
Status The Plan update reports on the progress made since the implementation of the Plan within each of the four categories: Curriculum, Professional Development, Instruction, and Assessment/Other. The Plan is an ever-evolving document to assist our District in improving the math ability of all our students and improving the level of math instruction. The MAP is built around five key features: 1) Improving student achievement; 2) Enhancing the performance and professionalism of faculty; 3) Analyzing formative assessment and other data; 4) Collaborating with parents; and 5) Establishing community partnerships.
Fiscal Impact There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund.
